From John and Anne:

The last two weeks have been quite amazing.  Our dreams and prayers of becoming parents were finally answered.  We witnessed the births of our four brand new babies, two boys and two girls, and couldn't wait for the day when they would all come home.  Then we received some sad news about Michael.  He was diagnosed with Down Syndrome.  The news was very devastating.  The doctor told us that Michael's physical and mental development would be impaired due to his chromosomal abnormality.  We both cried for a long time.  But ultimately we realized that the best thing to do is to look ahead and to look for positives.  So far, Michael's health is fine, and we know he will have three loving siblings to pull him along.  This is a very difficult period in our lives, but we know we will get through it with the support of our families and friends like you.  So when you see us, please continue to ask us about the progress of our children and share any success stories about others with Down Syndrome with us.

If you are learning this news for the first time from these pages, please understand that we are making every effort to let all of you know in person.  We posted this page in order to let you know the news about Michael as soon as possible and to let you know what we are feeling.  Thank you.
